Valtronic Moves to Larger Facility

Larger location is intended to improve overall efficiency.

Swiss manufacturing services company Valtronic Technologies SA has moved to a newly renovated, 60,000-square-foot design, development and manufacturing facility in Solon, Ohio. The facility is only a mile from its old location, where the company built its U.S. headquarters 23 years ago.

Company officials report the new facility will enable Valtronic to fully implement its 5S (sorting, straightening, systematic cleaning, standardizing, and sustaining) manufacturing system. The larger space  also will accommodate the company’s expanding customer base, according to Valtronic.

The location has double the surface-mount technology area of the old facility, which will increase capacity and improve efficiency. There are expanded staging areas for increased throughput. All products now will have flow-based production cells that create increased separation between lines. Inspectors will be assigned to each manufacturing work cell to oversee quality. The dry room has also doubled in size, there is an expanded clean room, and dedicated floor stockroom with capacity for growth.

Valtronic provides engineering consulting, design and development, and manufacturing services for medical devices, including orthopedics.
